Technical Disclosure Form

In order to provide you with tailored advice and, if appropriate, an accurate cost estimate for preparing and filing a patent application, we require technical details relating to your idea or invention.

Please complete and submit the following short form.  It asks a series of targeted questions aimed at extracting the key information we need to advise you further and provide cost estimates.  If you prefer, an editable version of the form may be downloaded here for emailing to us.  Drawings or photographs can be very useful in terms of conveying the key concepts or technical features underpinning an invention and these can be uploaded below.

Important:  As a firm of Chartered Patent Attorneys, anything information you disclose to us is covered by “client-attorney legal privilege” as is confirmed by Section 280 of the UK Copyright, Design and Patents Act 1988 as detailed here:- http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/48/section/280.  We are also bound by strict confidentiality obligations under the Rules of Conduct set by the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).   For example, Rule 8.5 states: “If information is obtained in relation to a prospective client, a regulated person may still be bound by a duty of confidentiality, even if that prospective client does not subsequently instruct that person or their firm”.
